National Women's Council Launch Toolkit To Tackle Under-Representation

Just 19 per cent of local authority seats in the midlands are filled by women.

Women make up just a quarter of all councillors in local government across the country.

The National Women's Council is hoping to boost their numbers through a family-friendly Toolkit in Longford, where just 11% of councillors are women.

Politics continues to be dominated by men - just 11% of councillors in Offaly are women, it's 15% for Westmeath and 26% in Laois
