Nationwide Reduction In Garda Frontline Numbers

Just one Garda division in the country saw an increase in staffing levels.

The Westmeath Garda division has seen one of the largest reductions in frontline numbers in the country.

There were 254 frontline Gardaí in the division in December of last year - that figure was 245 in June, according to the Irish Independent.

Numbers in Laois and Offaly have also fallen by 2.6%, correlating with 10 fewer Gardaí in the space of six months.

Every division in the country has seen a fall in staffing levels, with the exception of Cavan and Monaghan, which has increased by 0.8%.
