The wait times for NCTs are "completely unacceptable".
That's according to Junior Transport Minister, Jack Chambers, who believes the situation is causing "enormous frustration".
In the midlands, test centres in Portlaoise, Tullamore and Mullingar have a wait time of almost five months, with their next available test dates in January.
In the region only Athlone has a slots available at the end of this month.
