The highest number of reports came from nursing staff.
There have been over 1,000 incidents of assault on HSE staff in CHO8 in the past two years.
Figures from the Health service show 529 incidents were reported in 2021 in the area, which includes Laois, Offaly and Westmeath.
That jumped to 626 the following year, in 2022.
Nationally, there were nearly 18,000 of assault against HSE staff in the same time period.
Over 13,000 of those were direct physical assaults, more than four thousand were verbal and 88 were sexual.
Nursing staff filed the most reports, by a large margin, at almost half of the total figure.
