Plans are in place for a new Aldi store to open in Westmeath before the end of the year.
Construction is contiinuing ahead of a new store located on the Athlone Road approach to Moate.
The developments include the construction of a single storey discount foodstore, with 117 car parking spaces and 20 bicycle spaces.
Planning permission for the development was granted by Westmeath County Council in November 2023.
In a statement to Midlands 103, an Aldi Spokesperson commented: "We're excited that construction is progressing for our new store in Moate. We plan to open the store later this year and are looking forward to sharing in due course updates and full details, including the number of jobs the new store will create.”
