Minister of State for the Circular Economy Alan Dillon today announced the introduction of higher litter fines, with the fixed-payment, on-the-spot fine for littering increasing from €150 to €250.
The measure aims to discourage littering and promote cleaner, more sustainable communities, with up to €250,000 to be allocated from the Circular Economy Fund in 2026 to help local authorities purchase infrastructure to address dog fouling.
