New EV Car Registrations Surge In Midlands

Nationally, EV registrations more than doubled in May.

New EV car registrations surged in the Midlands in May, according to the Society of the Irish Motor Industry. 

Westmeath is leading the way in the region with 309 new cars representing an 83 per cent increase compared to last year, Offaly is up 75 per cent to 161, and Laois jumped 73 per cent to 283.

Nationally, EV registrations more than doubled in May, jumping 115 per cent to 2,335 vehicles, while year-to-date electric car sales are up 53.8%.
