New laws could be on the way to ban phones from Irish classrooms. 

According to the Irish Mirror government ministers are keen to tackle the 'scourge' of mobiles in both primary and secondary schools, which are have a detrimental effect on education. 

The paper says Education Minister Norma Foley is in the process of preparing legislation to outlaw the devices from classrooms.

Principal of Killeigh National School in Tullamore, Damian White, says most schools would ban phones anyway:
