A contractor is being appointed to a new pedestrian and cycle bridge project in a Westmeath town.
Murphy International Ltd will oversee the construction of the project on the Ardmore Road in Mullingar which will be built alongside the existing Saunders Road bridge.
The project is funded under the Active Travel Investment Programme and is aiming to provide a new active travel route for local communities.
The bridge would also accomodate all transport modes and improve accessibility to local services and schools in the areas of Ardmore and Ballinderrry.
