New Regulations Now Allow GPs To Email Prescriptions

A midlands pharmacist says business has increased despite a drop in footfall.

New regulations allowing GPs to email prescriptions to pharmacies are being introduced to help maintain the service while movement restrictions are in place.

Previously, pharmacists were unable to issue medication unless the script was received on paper from the GP, over the counter or in the post.

The measures came into effect last Friday night and will also increase the validity of scripts from six months to nine months.
