A new Rural Crime Lead for the Gardai is a positive first step to highlight the work of community policing.
That's the view of Muintir na Tire's CEO, Ballinakill's Rosie Palmer following the appointment of Superintendent Michael Corbett to the role.
It's to ensure Gardai are able to address crime in farming areas effectively and strengthen their links in those communities.
Ms Palmer says there needs to be more of a focus on the sector:
