The Great Telescope is also receiving a prominent accolade.
New interactive features are being unveiled at the Birr Castle's Science Centre this afternoon.
The latest enhancements follow a €50,000 investment from Fáilte Ireland, with the centre expected to draw 35,000 visitors over the next five years.
A ceremony is also celebrating the Great Telescope today - it's been officially recognised as a European Physical Society Historic Site.
