The hospital has returned to pre-Christmas levels.

There are no covid patients in Portlaoise Regional Hospital for the third consecutive day.

Numbers have returned to pre-Christmas levels in the Laois hospital, but remain at 13 in Tullamore and have risen slightly to 10 in Mullingar.

Eight people are being treated for covid in intensive care - while there's currently one available ICU bed in the region, in Portlaoise Hospital.

Nationally, there are 419 covid patients in hospital today, including 103 in a critical condition.
