Many counties across the country don't offer secondary school education through Irish.
Children finishing 6th class in the Midlands don't have the option to go to a local Gaelscoil for their second level education.
Department of Education figures released to TD Barry Ward - and seen by the Irish Examiner - show Offaly, Westmeath, Laois, along with Roscommon, Longford, Cavan, Clare, Leitrim, Louth, and Sligo don't offer a secondary school through Irish.
Elsewhere in the country the numbers also show a big drop off in pupils going from primary schools taught through Irish to second level gaelscoileanna.
