The Irish Road Haulage Association wants a 'one stop shop' system for workers coming to Ireland.
The President of the IRHA says the transport industry is 3,000 drivers short and it's critical to employ people from other countries.
The current process involves eight government departments issuing permits and visas costing approximately €2,000 per applicant.
Rosenallis' Ger Hyland says workers are now coming from South Africa, but due to the delayed process of getting sanctioned they are taking up other countries' job offers therefore leaving the employer with a €2,000 loss.
