That’s according to an Offaly woman who was diagnosed with psoriasis.
An Offaly woman says getting a diagnosis of psoriasis in her teenage years was devastating.
Zoe Ryan, from Tullamore, says at 18 she struggled to come to terms with it and felt that there wasn't enough empathy shown to her.
She's encouraging people with psoriasis to take part in a new study, which aims to better understand the links between psoriasis and arthritis, which is being run by UCD.
The 27-year-old says there needs to be more awareness created as it is not just a skin condition:
