Number Of Cattle In Ireland Increased Last Year

In the midlands alone, there are currently 887,800 cattle.

The total number of cattle in Ireland increased by over 37,000 last year.

The CSO released their Crops and Livestock Survey final figures today.

In the midlands alone, there are currently 887,800 cattle, with 266,400 in Laois, 240,300 in Westmeath and 260,900 in Offaly. 

Sheep numbers also saw an increase of 6.4%, meanwhile, pigs were the only common livestock to see a decrease of 3.5%.
