Nursing Homes Group Says Government Ignoring Challenges Of Ageing Population

An investigation is currently taking place into HIQA and Office of the Chief Inspector.

A nursing home representative group is accusing the Government of taking its eye off the ball on Ireland’s aging population.

It comes close to year after a TV exposé revealed uncovered multiple incidents of neglect at The Residence in Portlaoise and Beneavin Manor in Dublin.

A review into HIQA and the Office of the Chief Inspector is now taking place on foot of the investigation and The Alliance Supporting Nursing Homes wants the findings made public.

The group also believes the State is failing to meet its obligations set out in the programme for government on funding and price regulations.
