Fine Gael Councillor Noel Cribbin fell foul of the new local road speed limit on the L2025.
Midlands motorists are receiving fines and penalty points due to a lack of signage.
That's according to Offaly Councillor Noel Cribbin, it comes after the majority of speed limits on rural roads were reduced from 80 kilometres an hour to 60 in February.
He says the Ballinagar to Cappancur road into Tullamore has just one sign advising road users of the change.
The Fine Gael rep is calling for further signage as he received a fine and penalty point himself on this road.
He says his car's digital speed limit display hadn't updated with the new reduction:
