Offaly Councillor Claims "Censorship" Over Midlands Hospice Motion

Fergus McDonell says there's a lack of clarity over how the hospice site was chosen.

An Offaly Councillor says the local authority's refusal to discuss his motion on the selection of the site for the Midlands Hospice is "censorship at local government level". 

Independent Ireland Councillor for Edenderry Fergus McDonnell wants the Health Minister to authorise and oversee a full investigation into all considerations in choosing the final location.

Arden Lane in Tullamore was eventually chosen over the Wellwood Health Campus with planning permission granted in December.

The Corporate Policy Group in the local authority says it had discussed the motion ahead of time, and decided it would not be appropiate to be put on the agenda for July's monthly meeting.
