Edenderry's Seamus Farrell's house was being intruded in the early hours of July 11th.
An Offaly farmer armed with a legally held shotgun chased away four masked raiders armed with hatchets, a hammer and bolt cutters after they targeted his home.
Edenderry's Seamus Farrell fired a warning shot after home security sensors alerted him to the intruders, who then fled the property, in the early hours of July 11th.
His wife was left too frightened to call emergency services and his family has since increased security at their home.
Gardaí are yet to make an arrest in the investigation and are examining whether the suspects are linked to a series of rural burglaries.
