Offaly ICSA Sheep Chair Hits Out At Factories Over Lamb Prices

There will be reductions of 50c/kg and a further 20c/kg expected.

Irish sheep farmers are coming up against unfair factory prices and markets being flooded with lamb from outside the EU.

The Irish Cattle and Sheep Farmer's Association is warning the sector won't see out the next 20 years if something doesn't change.

50 cent a kilo cuts followed by a further 20 cent a kilo expected this week will take 15 euro off the price of every lamb.

Birr's Willie Shaw is the Sheep Chair for the ICSA and says unless consistent and sustainable prices are maintained, more farmers will be driven out of sheep production:
