Fianna Fáil's Barry Cowen will help balance sustainability to benefit both farmers and the environment.
An Offaly MEP has been appointed a new role in agriculture in the European Union.
Fianna Fáil's Barry Cowen will take up position as the Renew Europe group's shadow rapporteur for the upcoming 'Future of Agriculture and the Post-2027 Common Agricultural Policy' report.
The Midlands North West rep will also publish his own paper on the future of farming and CAP.
MEP Cowen says a key focus of his reform agenda includes establishing a third environmental pillar within CAP - to help balance sustainability and productivity to benefit both farmers and the environment.
