Offaly Rare Bird Numbers Holding Firm

A five-year study of the breed has just been wrapped up.

The number of a rare bird species in Offaly is holding firm.

The nesting numbers of Swifts in the county has remained on-par over the past five years, following the decision to undertake a survey of the breed in 2017.

The birds have seen a decline of nearly 60% in less than two decades, but Offaly County Council says the results of the report are 'positive.'
