A local councillor says, with half of them built on bog land, they were already in bad condition.
Offaly's road network has been seriously damaged by recent flooding.
That's according to independent councillor John Leahy, who says funding needs to be significantly increased.
He says 50 per cent of the county's roads are built on bogland, which means they have half the life span of roads in other parts of the country and are all already in poor condition.
The Kilcormac councillor says a 'one size fits all' method to maintaining Ireland's roads is not working and more resources need to go into Offaly's network:
