Offaly Sinn Fein Councillor Elected As Edenderry Cathaoirleach

Claire Murray is the first female Sinn Fein rep to hold the role.

An Offaly councillor is making history as the first female Sinn Féin rep to be Cathaoirleach of a municipal district.  

Claire Murray has been elected to the role for the Edenderry region. 

The last time a Sinn Féin rep was elected into this seat was in the 1920 local election, and in those 126 years it was never a female from the party. 

Cathaoirleach Murray is launching a short survey of 10 questions today, asking constituents to list their top 3 priorities.
