Fine Gael's John Clendennen is calling for a later evening train from Dublin Heuston serving Offaly and the return of catering services on board.
He says towns like Portarlington and Portlaoise are benefitting from a later train departing Dublin at 10.10pm, with the last service to Tullamore departing at 8.30pm.
