Offaly TD Calls For Reversal Of Voluntary Return Grant For Asylum Seeker

The policy offers money to families and individuals who agree to withdraw their applications for international protection.

An Offaly TD wants the government to reverse a proposal to offer voluntary return grants for asylum seekers. 

Carol Nolan is describing the proposal as 'a bribe for bogus applicants that should be immediately withdrawn'.

The policy would €2,500 offered to an individual and €10,000 for a family, if they withdraw their pending claims for international protection. 

She says the money should be directed towards the Garda Emigration Bureau:
