Offaly TD Likens Peat Policy To A Mercosur-Style Approach

Over 370,000 tonnes of peat was exported into Ireland last year.

An Offaly TD says the approach to peat extraction in the Midlands is effectively being treated like a Mercosur-style issue.

Carol Nolan is calling out the government for importing peat instead of allowing smaller operations to continue across the country.

Ireland exported over 370,000 tonnes of peat last year, representing a rise from the figures recorded in 2023 and 2024.
