Daingean Reformatory is currently being used as a storage facility for various items, including construction materials for the new Laois/Offaly Garda Divisional Headquarters in Portlaoise.
Until 1973, the site operated as a boys’ detention centre and developed a notorious reputation for violence and abuse.
