An Offaly based telescope is to become the focus of a collaborative research project between universities.
TUS and the Dublin Insitute of Advanced Studies have signed a memorandium of understanding on a collaborative project.
Under the agreement, phD students at TUS will be appointed scholars at DIAS and will work on the I-LOFAR telescope at Birr Castle.
They'll use the radio telescope to develop the first centralised Astrophysics storage and High Performance Computing facility in the country.
The faciility will help undergraduate students in modelling large datasets.
