The estate of the late Joe Grogan has been administered with Lisa Flaherty named as the sole heir.
The widow of an Offaly farmer is set to inherit her late husband's €5.5 million fortune after a controversial dispute with his family.
The Sunday Independent is reporting Joe Grogan's estate has been administered with Lisa Flaherty named as the sole heir.
The news comes despite persistent objections from Mr Grogan's family who had questioned the validity of their marriage at an inquest into his death last year.
A formal objection to the inheritance was lodged with the Probate Office but the family has since been informed their attempts have come to naught.
Their solicitor Damien Tansey says it's "quite extraordinary" the office accepted and processed the objection and still issued the grant of administration.
Mr Grogan was well-known for hosting the National Ploughing Championships at his farm in Screggan, Tullamore between 2016 and 2018.
During an emotional and tense hearing at the inquest to his death Ms Flaherty told the court she had been in a relationship with him on and off since she was 16.
She moved into his home to care for him after he was diagnosed with cancer in 2023.
He passed away at his home in April that year, a day after marrying Ms Flaherty in Tullamore.
She will host the Championships this week which are expected to bring close to 300 thousand people.
