Only One Third Of Staff Needed To Manage Long-Covid Hired

A midlands TD is calling for the positions to be filled as soon as possible.

Just one third of the staff needed to manage patients with long Covid have been recruited according to Independent TD Denis Naughten.

The HSE say they have filled just 22 of the 70 posts required to operate 14 specialist long Covid centres across the country.

Statistics based on research published earlier this month in The Lancet medical journal suggest that there could be over 18 thousand people in the midlands experiencing long Covid symptoms.
