Nationally, there was a decrease of 12% on the same period last year.
Over 300 new dwellings have been completed so far this year in the midlands.
Accroding to the CSO, in the first quarter of this year, 127 dwellings were completed in Laois, the highest in the region.
Following that, 92 have been completed in Offaly and 88 in Westmeath.
Nationally, over 5,800 new dwellings were finished, however the country saw a decline of over 12% on the same period in 2023.
