In Laois, 10,600 mattresses are dumped every year, at a cost of approx €1.9 million to the local economy. This amounts to about 265,000kg of waste each year.
11,180 mattress are dumped annually in Westmeath, which costs the region about €2.1 million per year.
And in Offaly, it costs the economy €1.7 million euro to dump 9,800 mattresses each year.
