There are over 800 teacher vacancies at schools across the country.
A joint survey by the INTO, the Irish Primary Principals Network and the Catholic Primary Schools Management Association found 28% of all schools have long-term vacancies.
There are 16 jobs on offer in the midlands at primary and post-primary level, according to educationposts.ie - seven of those are in Offaly, followed by five in Laois and four in Westmeath.
However, the figure is 50% in DEIS schools and Gaelsoileanna, and 43% in special schools.
Over 500 of the vacant teacher posts are at schools in the greater Dublin area.
