Over €120,000 Granted For Flood Defences In The Midlands

The Whitehorse and Nore rivers have flooded in recent years.

Over €120,000 in funding has been granted for flood defenses in a midlands county.

In recent years both the Whitehorse and Nore rivers have flooded their surrounding areas in Laois.

There's €58,500 being provided to clear deadwood and debris and to prune trees that are causing obstructions along a 6.5km stretch of the Whitehorse River from Mountrath.

While €63,000 is being granted for the same works on the Nore River in the South of the county.
