Overhaul Of The Leaving Cert Needed - Midlands Guidance Counsellor

The rate of students from disadvantaged areas going to college has dropped by 4%.

The Leaving Cert in it's current form needs to be completely overhauled, so all students are given equal opportunities.

That's the view of a Westmeath Guidance Counsellor, who says the latest feeder school report shows how predicted grades provided better access to higher-level education.

According to the Irish Times, the number of students from disadvantaged backgrounds going onto college has fallen by almost 4% this year.
