Three urban regeneration projects are currently in the pipeline for the town, but with no start date.

There's continued frustration over the pace of redevelopment on the Connaught side of Athlone.

Three urban regeneration projects are currently in the pipeline for the town, including the creation of a Cultural Quarter to the west of the Shannon.

Local councillors have been voicing their concern at the rate of progress being made, with no start date for works in sight.

Fianna Fáil's Aengus O'Rourke says there's been talk of reviving Connaught Street since 2018, but still nothing tangible to show for it:
