It follows an aggravated burglary in the midlands.

A person has appeared in court charged with burglary and assault following an incident in the midlands.

It follows a search of a property in Portlaoise as part of an investigation into the aggravated burglary of a house in Portarlington on July 19th.

A number of items were seized and and one person was arrested.

They appeared before Portlaoise District Court yesterday afternoon, charged with a number of offences, including assault and burglary.

They were refused bail and remanded in custody.
