Westmeath County Council is hosting a public info evening in Athlone today.
EU Just Transition funds are set to provide a major boost to a proposed outdoor swimming pool on the River Shannon.
The local authority in Westmeath, in partnership with Failte Ireland, will be able to progress their proposals for the project in Athlone.
The funds will also cover a new boardwalk on the Shannon's east bank to the pedestrian bridge in Burgess Park.
A design team is being appointed to put together a feasibility study and preliminary designs in order to submit official planning permission.
Westmeath County Council are also holding a public information evening tonight at their Athlone offices from 4pm until 8pm.
