Potential Flooding Could Be Expected In The Future For The Midlands

Ireland is becoming warmer and wetter.

Climate Change trends suggest the midlands could see significant flood damage in the future. 

Emeritus Professor at Maynooth University and Climatologist, John Sweeney is making the comments following new research from Met Eireann, which shows Ireland is becoming warmer and wetter.

He says the country's surrounding waters are getting hotter which is leading to more intense rainfall across the island.

He believes if climate change continues on its current path the region will be in danger of seeing a repeat of the flooding experienced along the River Shannon in 2009:
