There is a responsibility on schools to educate children about puberty.
That's according to the Principal of Raheen National School and member of Portlaoise INTO Branch Niamh Campion, as primary school children are to learn about puberty at an earlier age.
These changes, which are set to be implemented form next year, are in part due to children starting school at an older age.
Ms Campion says schools need to educate children due to some parent's deciding not to teach them about the subject:
