Prisoner Cell Telephones 'A Step Too Far', Says Midlands TD

804 phones have been installed in the Midlands Prison.

Installing telephones in prisoners' cells is a 'step too far.'

That's according to Laois-Offaly TD Brian Stanley, who is concerned phone cords could be used to inflict damage on other inmates.

804 phones have been installed in the cells of the Midlands Prison, with the same upgrades to follow in Portlaoise Prison by the end of the year.
