Public Outcry Fears Force Bord Na Móna To Drop CEO’s €57k Bonus

Tom Donnellan was set to receive a €57,000 bonus.

Bord Na Mona cancelled their chief executive's €57,000 bonus over fears of a public outcry.

The payment, which covered benefit in kind taxes for a company car and health insurance, was dropped from a new contract for Tom Donnellan signed in April, according to the Irish Times.

It follows internal papers from the Department of Expenditure highlighting the bonus as a potential PR liability for the state-owned energy company.

The bonus had been in place, alongside his €225,000 salary since at least 2023.
