Purchasing Land For Bog Re-Wetting Is Non-Starter For Government

That's according to Fine Gael

Compulsory purchases of farmer's land for bog re-wetting is a non-starter for the government, according to Fine Gael.

There's concerns the State may have to secure more land to honour their obligations in a forthcoming European Union Nature Restoration Law.

An agreement has been reached this week by a majority of EU countries on the law that is designed to help recover biodiversity loss across the Union.

Kildare South TD and Minister of State for Agriculture Martin Heydon says there should be no interference from the government on farmers land:
