Push To Reduce Use Of Glyphosate Weed-Killers Starts With Garden Centres

The owner of a midlands garden centre is offering alternatives to the chemical-based solution.

Garden centres must lead the push to reduce the use of glyphosate weed-killers.

That's according to Co-founder of Solas Eco-Garden shop in Portarlington, John Carey, who says there needs to be a greater focus on bio-diversity in the horticultural industry.

He suggests the use of foam-spraying, a process which involves steaming weeds and burning the roots without killing essential insects in the soil.
