A midlands TD wants bus drivers to have the right to chose when to retire.

Bus Éireann drivers, once 70 years old, must step off the road, even if in possession of a full PSV licence, a full driving licence and are medically certified to continue driving.

The Taoiseach says he is personally in favour of allowing bus drivers to remain in employment after 70.

Laois Offaly Independent TD Carol Nolan says the current approach is counter-productive:
