The rules allow modular garden cabins of up to 45 square metres to be built without planning permission, subject to notifying the local authority.
The changes also remove planning requirements for certain bike and bin storage units, increase the exempt size for back garden sheds, and expand exemptions for heat pumps and external wall insulation.
