Raids In Laois As Part Of Investigation Into New IRA

Local gardaí assisted in the PSNI-led operation.

Nine people have been arrested on suspicion of terror offences in Northern Ireland after gardaí carried out searches at locations in Laois yesterday morning, as well as in Dublin, Cork and Kerry.

The seven men and two women are aged between 26 and 50.  

The raids were carried out in the O'Moore county as part of an investigation into the New IRA.

They're part of ongoing operations to combat the activities of the dissident republican group.

They were conducted by the Special Detective Unit, assisted by local gardaí and Regional Armed Support Units.
